Susan Anderson is Operations Manager for both Branford and Pierson Colleges. Susan has been a part of Pierson College since 2009 and joined Branford in 2011. With the direction from Master Bradley and Master Goldblatt, Susan is responsible for managing the financial and administrative operations for both colleges. She creates and monitors the annual budgets and works with the amazing Branford and Pierson staffs to facilitate the smooth functioning of the colleges. Susan also coordinates strategic planning and special projects, and serves as liaison between the colleges and the Yale College Business Office. Susan is a 2002 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University (B.S., Accounting) and received her MBA from University of New Haven in 2012. Previous to her current role, Susan had worked at the Yale Medical School since 2007. In her spare time, Susan enjoys photography, going to Yankees games, and spending time with family and friends, especially her young nephew.

Alicia Heaney is the Senior Administrative Assistant at Branford College. Born and educated in New Haven, she has worked at the University for thirty-three years – fourteen of them at Branford! With all this experience and wisdom, she may be known as the elder stateswoman of Branford College. Alicia oversees and coordinates administrative and program activities of the Master’s Office including developing and coordinating the work of the Master’s Aides. Alicia does a wide range of administrative functions to support academic and social programs and operations of Branford College. She oversees room reservations, keys, and the on-going upkeep of Branford College facilities; she also buys Branford gear, helps plan and carry off social activities for Branford College, and directs students, parents, and alumni to the right people. Alicia lives near the beach with her husband Bill and dog, Katie O’Grady Heaney. In addition to our students, she loves gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Joan Dempsey

Joan Dempsey is the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Branford College. She currently resides in Wallingford with her husband and four teenage children. Joan has been with Yale for fourteen years, including the last three here in the Branford College Dean’s Office. Born and raised in New Haven County, she was introduced at an early age to Yale football games and the best pizza in the world!
After receiving her BS degree in Business Management from Merrimack College, Joan joined Yale in 1984 as a Portfolio Manager in the Investments Office, working for David Swensen. Prior to her position in the Branford College Dean’s Office, Joan held positions in the Yale College Administration Office, Pierson College, and the University’s Office of Finance and Administration. In her spare time, Joan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, hiking, and playing sports spectator at high school basketball and soccer games.

James Byrd is the Service Assistant in the Master’s House in Branford College since 2001. James hails from New Jersey and has lived in New Haven for the past 12 years. James brings years of culinary experience to his position, having worked in the restaurant business for more than 20 years and enjoys drawing. Jerry Irizarry has been the Old Campus Superintendent for over two years. He has worked for the University for more than 11 years, in various positions. Jerry oversees the maintenance operation on the Old Campus and is a facilitator for the repairs and events that take place in the buildings and the grounds.
Bill Severino

Bill Severino is Branford's Dining Hall Manager. He has been at Yale for three and a half years. He has 30 years of experience in Food Service, and has owned several restaurants. Bill and his wife of 22 years, Beverly, have a daughter, Jessie, who is 15 years old. When he is not in the Dining Hall, Bill enjoys marital arts, something he has been involved in for more than 25 years. He is a self-defense instructor, and currently runs a women's self-defense program in Madison, CT and has also run some self-defense programs at Yale, including at Branford College.
