Branford's Communication and Consent Educators (CCEs) this year are Sania Tildon, '12, Lexy Adams, '13 and Aaron Lewis, '14.
Branford's CCEs are part of a larger group of 40 students who work within Yale's residential colleges to promote healthy communication, relationships, and sexuality on campus. The CCEs aim to provide education and to create dialogue about a wide range of issues: communication in relationships and social groups, hooking up, dating at Yale, expressing agreement and refusal, resources available on campus, and more. There are a variety of projects planned for this year, including workshops to help people prevent and respond to sexual misconduct, along with events such as study breaks, conversations over dinner, in-suite workshops, and interactive, fun programming related to many of the topics mentioned above. CCEs are based within the colleges, but will also work with other Yale communities, including performance groups, sports teams, publications, cultural centers, religious organizations, and any other groups that may be interested in programming and collaboration. As a new program, the CCEs are continually refining their strategies based on student input, so please get in touch with any questions or ideas.
While the CCEs are trained educators in this area, they are not counselors. We encourage anyone seeking counseling in regards to sexual misconduct to call the SHARE Center at 203-432-6653. Information on responding to sexual misconduct is also provided online by the Yale College Dean's Office.
