Assistant Professor, Political Science
Nuno P. Monteiro is Assistant Professor of Political Science. His main research interests are in International Relations theory and meta-theory as well as security studies, including great-power politics, the causes of war, and nuclear proliferaton. He is currently working on a book laying out a theory of unipolarity and on a series of papers on security topics including the causes of war in a unipolar world and the determinants of military competition, nuclear proliferation, successful military occupations, and credible deterrent threats. His work has appeared in International Theory. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2009.
