As former President of Production at Universal Pictures, and as producer of such hit movies as “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” Disney’s “Bridge to Terabithia,” “U-571,” and“House at the End of the Street” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Hal Lieberman has supervised and produced scores of studio films that have been distributed throughout the world.
While heading production,Mr. Lieberman initiated and oversaw such films as “Apollo 13, with Tom Hanks,” “The Nutty Professor,” starring Eddie Murphy, “Liar Liar,” starring Jim Carrey, “Fried Green Tomatoes” starring Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy and “The River Wild” starring Meryl Streep. Lieberman also helped initiate the film careers of Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller with their now cult classics ”Billy Madison,” “Happy Gilmore” and ”Reality Bites.”
Over the last decade, Mr. Lieberman created and chaired the Bachelor’s degree program in business at the Los Angeles Film School, welcoming and graduating over a thousand students.
In October 2024 Mr. Lieberman will begin shooting writer/director A.R. Ephraim’s “A Woman’s Work” starring Louise Harland, set in the coal mining towns of Kentucky.
He is an active member of the Academy (AMPAS) as well as the Producers Guild (PGA) and the Writers Guild (WGA). He received a Master’s degree in Literature from the University of Chicago.
