We hope you’ve seen President Salovey’s announcement regarding the Sheffield Society House Prize, but if you haven’t, then we get to be the first to say it - Congratulations Branford on winning the Sheffield Society House Prize!
This Sheffield prize is awarded to the Residential College with the highest standing in scholarship in courses in science, mathematics, and engineering. The standing of a Residential College is based on the grade-point average of students in all four classes. The Fall and Spring terms of 2020-2021 are the semesters used in the calculations.
Branford will have its name engraved on a sterling cup, which we will get to house in our college for the remainder of the year. More importantly, income from the Trust is used to support a summer research internship in the sciences for a student in Branford.
We are so proud of all of you for this well-deserved prize, particularly given that the year it is being awarded for was a difficult and challenging one. Your perseverance and dedication show!
We look forward to being able to soon celebrate with you all in person. In the meantime, when you spot a STEM major in Branford, congratulate them!
With great pride and respect,
Head De La Cruz and Dean Insley
