Sarah Rodeo

Sarah is a second-year, part-time Master’s in Religion & Music student through the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. She is the full-time Music Director at St. Francis Catholic (in New Britain, CT), where she is implementing a traditional Catholic sacred music program. Sarah currently sings with numerous professional groups who are dedicated to performing the great Catholic music of the ages in liturgical contexts, such as the St. Gregory Latin Mass Society of New Haven and the St. Cecilia Consort (in Fairfield, CT). She also works as a part-time Organist/Cantor/Choir Director at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shelton, CT.

Sarah was born and raised in Manhattan, NY. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Vassar College, where she studied organ, voice, piano and some choral conducting, and sang with the Women’s Chorus, the mixed College Choir, and the select Madrigal Singers. At Vassar, Sarah received grants from Vassar’s Academic Enrichment Fund and the June Ross Marks ‘49 Travel Fund to study Catholic liturgy and music at St. Joseph’s Seminary (“Dunwoodie”). Sarah also twice received the Kate Chittenden Memorial Scholarship for summer music study with the Church Music Association of America, which is dedicated to the promotion for summer music study with the Church Music Association of America, which is dedicated to the promotion of Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, and other beautiful forms of Catholic sacred music. At Vassar, Sarah received a Senior College Life Recognition Award for her contributions to on-campus religious and musical life and worked as a Music Department Research Assistant. She also served as Vassar Student Representative to the Board of the Central Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Sarah has played the organ and sang traditional sacred music for many other Catholic monasteries, churches and other communities, such as St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Haven and the Catholic communities of Vassar College and the Culinary Institute of America. Sarah has also taught and continues to teach numerous keyboard students.
