Eric Schorr

Eric is a playwright who also composes music for theater, television and film.

Eric was commissioned by Virginia Stage Company to write the score and libretto for I Sing the Rising Sea, a new musical about science, poetry and climate change that will have its premiere in Norfolk in the fall of 2016. The National Endowment for the Arts and The Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project will provide funding to the production, which you can read more about here.

Another recent project is an original music-theater piece called Tokio Confidential, for which he has written the score and libretto, and which had its premiere at Atlantic Theater Company’s Stage 2 in New York City. Broadway Records has released a recording.

Eric lived in Branford College while an undergraduate at Yale. He was a physics major (though he took many music courses), served as a musical director for musical theater productions and was Pitchpipe of the Duke’s Men.
