Michael Chen

Born in NYC, Michael (he/him) grew up in LA and the SF Bay Area. He is majoring in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration and Political Science with a Certificate of Advanced Language Study in Chinese. He hopes to pursue a career in public service and his coursework and research focus on migrant justice, immigration policy, and the intersections between race and immigration. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in non-STEM research!

For the past two years, Michael has been a Peer Liaison for the Asian American Cultural Center, serving as Branford’s AACC PL during his sophomore year. He was the former Head Recruitment Coordinator at the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Co-President of the Chinese American Students Association, and Membership Coordinator on Dwight Hall’s Student Executive Committee. He has also led FGLI First-Year Peer Mentorship Groups under the Academic Strategies Program. Ask him anything about cultural groups, volunteer opportunities, and navigating Yale as a first-generation low-income student! :)

In his free time, you can find him at coffee shops throughout New Haven, hiking up East Rock, and visiting the Wooster Square Farmers’ Market. He is a big fan of the Jitter Bus, Junzi, and the Branford Dining Hall. Michael is so excited to meet the Class of 2026! Welcome to Branford!!!
