Ushuu Namarra

Ushuu is from Minneapolis, Minnesota, which she considers the best in the Midwest! The Twin Cities is also known as “Little Oromia”, full of her family’s culture from Ethiopia. At Yale, she studies the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health and is completing the Global Health certificate. Ushuu eventually hopes to attend medical school but this year will be starting an MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases.

Beyond academics, she dances with the largest non-auditioned dance group Danceworks, facilitates health education workshops in New Haven schools with CHE, and plans events in the Ethiopian and Eritrean Student Association. Being involved in the Branford College Council for the past three years, Ushuu is a proud Branfordian.

In her free time, she loves to listen to new music and hang out with friends.
